How to Spring Clean Your Life and Feel Extra Refreshed

This year while spring cleaning, I wanted to go the extra mile and do a little more than throw out those old sweaters with holes in them. Because I always feel good about throwing things away, I decided to spring clean my life. Have you ever wondered how to spring clean your life? Well, I am here to help.

You see, we do this thing where we hoard stuff and try to convince ourselves we need it in order to feel good. Physical items and internal emotions are very similar if you think about it.

Baggage isn’t only in your room, but inside you as well, and sometimes you just have to give your life a good cleaning.

Below are 10 tips on how to spring clean your life:

Check in on your career goals

I don’t know about you, but my career goals are always changing. If you are bored or tired of what you are doing, find something else you are passionate in. Don’t waste your time working towards something you truly do not enjoy. If you have a job, challenge yourself and learn something new.

Break up with toxic friends.

Easier said than done…but we’re too old to be playing games. If you have a friend that is constantly bringing you down, let them go. You don’t need that in your life.

Surround yourself with people who make you genuinely happy.

I love my 7 friends because they make me laugh. They also accept me for who I am. They are always there to pick me up when I am down and cheer me on until I am at the finish line.

Say “no” when you don’t feel like doing something and give yourself a break.

Listen — if I don’t want to do something, I won’t do it. I wasn’t always that way, but I became so miserable and overloaded by saying yes, that I needed to one day just learn to say no.

Organize your workspace.

Keeping your workspace clean and organized is the key to success. You want to be able to think in a good environment. Your brain works best when there aren’t distractions around you. Take the time to clean up and make your desk look good. You’ll feel way more excited to get your work done, I promise.

Spring clean your life by spending time with yourself and embrace the quietness.

Welcome to the real world where the sound of nothing is so beautiful. Step away from the hectic lifestyle you live and enjoy nothing for a few minutes. Give yourself time to think and reflect.

SLEEP MORE and restore your energy.

With the weather changing and my body just feeling extra tired, I may be making more excuses to nap than usual. But really — you need to keep your body healthy and energized in order to feel truly good about yourself.

Re-evaluate your values.

Sit down, think about who you are and what you want to become, and find the values that will help you succeed in life.

Stop and smell ALL the flowers, eat that last slice of pizza.

If eating one more slice of pizza is going to put a smile on your face, then don’t let anyone tell you no. We’re adults now. We have our good days and our bad. Some days you just need to indulge a little more and I am here to cheer you on.

Pet all the dogs and do something that puts a smile on your face.

Find a hobby that keeps you sane. Collect rocks for all I care. If it eases your mind after a long day, it’s worth the time and effort.

Internal cleaning is much needed after the winter blues. Take the time to make yourself happy.
