Do you ever wish you could grow your blog? It’s hard to stick out of the crowd and it’s even harder to grow your brand now that everyone is taking over the digital world.
Let me remind you: Many people have blogs, but they are not you.
Here is what I mean by that: When you create a blog, you create a brand. When you create a brand, you will eventually generate traffic with the correct target audience.
Now, let’s get to the main reason why you are here. You want to grow your blog but need some help.
Below are my favorite tips I always keep in mind when wanting to grow a new brand:
Publish content your target audience wants to read…and keep it consistent.
Are you a fashion writer who wants to attract fashionistas? Don’t write about food. Are you a tech-savvy nerd who loves to debunk technology myths? Don’t write about fashion. Stick to what you know and what you love. Grow your blog audience by attracting those you want to attract using your writing skills and knowledge in that department.
When I say keep it consistent, I mean don’t leave your readers hanging. Train them to visit your website every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for new posts. Strive to show your fan base you are serious!
Social media is very, very, very important
Listen, if you’re going to write an awesome piece, you’re going to want to share it with the world! Social media is the easiest way to grow your blog audience. You can share your post via Twitter and Facebook, and even reply to comments by linking your new blog post. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
Encourage your audience to subscribe to your email list
Don’t have an email list? Start one. There are plenty of great WordPress plugins that help you grow your audience by having them subscribe to your newsletter. This could be a plugin that has a popup when a visitor finds their way on your website.
An email can consist of a weekly newsletter that recaps your favorite pieces from the week. When you begin gaining traffic, you can even create daily emails!
Build Engagement
For your content to be engaging, it needs to be easily scannable.
- Keep your paragraphs short.
- Use subheadings.
- Divide your information into sub-sections using subheadings.
- Use lists. See what I did here? They’re much easier on eyes.
- Highlight important points.
- Use bolded or underlined font on important information.
- Use readable fonts.
Optimize Your Content For Search Engines
SEO is major when it comes to bringing in traffic to your website. Optimizing your website and their content for search engines is what makes your site easily discoverable by users searching for terms relevant to you.
- Optimize your meta title & meta description by adding important keywords
- Use keywords in your post title and subheadings.
- Link your new posts to other relevant content or to “top searched” pages
- Link out to other credible sites.
- Write descriptive ALT tags to your images
Starting a blog means the beginning of an exciting brand! Try new things, write content you love, and the rest will fall in to place.
