4 Awesome Digital Marketing Trends Taking over 2018

Digital Marketing Trends 2018

With 2017 coming to a close, it’s crucial to start planning your digital strategies for the fresh new year and prepare for the biggest digital marketing trends of 2018.

Because the digital world is constantly evolving, us digital marketers are always trying to find a way to keep pace with the 3 billion Internet users.

If I said being a digital marketer was easy, I would be lying straight through my teeth. Being a digital marketer is difficult. Why? Because it takes time, effort, passion, and quality to expand a brand online. A lot of hair pulling, nail biting, and stress.

As we look forward to 2018, here’s a look at the top digital marketing trends that will boost your marketing strategy:

1. Mobile Video

Mobile video is one of the digital marketing trends taking over 2018. According to Huffington Post, mobile video ad spend will grow 49 percent to roughly $18 billion in 2018, reports Recode, while non-mobile video ad spend is expected to fall 1.5 percent to $15 billion. You can expect to see a decline of video consumption on laptops and computers for the first time — while video views on phones and tablets is expected to grow by 25 percent.

The average viewer is expected to watch 36 minutes of online video per day on a mobile device, as opposed to half as much — roughly 19 minutes — on a computer.

92 percent of people who consume mobile videos share them with other people—don’t miss out on this digital marketing opportunity

2. Explainer Videos

Out with the old–in with the new. Explainer videos are not only short, but they are uncomplicated videos that explain your company’s product or service. The visual elements catch a viewers attention quickly, rather than explaining what you’re trying to sell in writing. Who has time for that anymore? (just kidding)

Did you know 63 percent of businesses are using videos as marketing tools, according to Wyzowl? More and more businesses are putting the time and effort in to building their brand.

3. Live Chat and chatbots are taking over

According to Business2Community, Facebook is opening up the Messenger platform as a live chat that will be embeddable on any website. While this is still in beta, it’s definitely something to watch for in 2018. If you have a large following on Facebook or a lot of your customers are active Facebook users, sign up for early access to the beta now.

4.  Content must be more personalized than ever.

Content continues to top the digital marketing trends. Personalized content performs 42 percent better than non-personalized content, according to HubSpot. If that doesn’t make you feel good about putting in that hard work, I don’t know what will.

Your content is your pride and joy. It’s what has gotten you this far, right? But as digital marketing grows, so does the nature of content. It’s very important to create evergreen content that connects your readers with your product. Creating content tailored to your target audience is what keeps your readers coming back for more.

Finish 2017 off strong. But don’t wait—now is the time to start planning for 2018 and the positive impact digital marketing will have on your brand.
